The growing season is officially slowing down. Last week, Hajiya harvested the last of her summer squash (pictured left) and frost is imminent. Thanks to area farmers’ hard work all season, there are so many crops that are stored away ready to feed us throughout the cold season.

This week, there are a number of treats available including organic sweet potatoes and fingerling sweet potatoes from Picadilly Farm, EcoCertified Pears from Champlain Orchards, and a variety of greens from the Fresh Start Farmers.

Along with your veg, don’t forget to check out some new items like Greek Maple Yogurt from Green Mountain Creamery, Grass Plus Stew Beef from Boyden Farm, Pollock from Red’s Best, and Little Hosmer Cheese from Jasper Hill Farm!

The food system we want in NH starts with you.

The NH Food Alliance is spearheading the development of the NH Food System Strategic Plan and they need your input and participation to create a plan that is both comprehensive and impactful.

A strategic plan for NH will align our food community, streamlining collective efforts to obtain funding, pass policies, develop programs, invest in infrastructure, and build networks. Learn more about how this plan will be created, the components it will contain, and how you can be involved by joining the NH Food System Strategic Plan Action Team.

Little Hosmer Cheese, Jasper Hill Farm

Little Hosmer is a Jasper Hill Creamery original, our mini version of a new world-style brie. This cheese is named for a small pond in nearby Craftsbury, Vermont, and made with milk from local pastured herds. An approachable and nuanced soft-ripened cheese. Beneath its thin, bloomy-rind lies a gooey, milky core showing a complex array of flavors at peak ripeness: cauliflower, crème fraiche, and toasted nuts. A bright, clean finish with a hint of white mushroom aroma follows the rich flavors of the paste.
