Twenty-three new American farmers make up Fresh Start Farms. Nine farmers are part of the New American Farmers Co-op and grow at Our Farm on Story Hill in Dunbarton, NH. An additional 14 farmers, the Umoja Farmers, grow on land at the St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH.

New American Farmers Cooperative
The New American Farmers Cooperative organized themselves cooperatively in 2016 in order to achieve their collective goals of increased self-sufficiency, efficiency, viability, and long-term sustainability of their farm businesses. The member-farmers represent the Somali-Bantu and Congolese communities and bring rich agricultural experience from both their countries of origin as well as the experience gained while farming in the United States and participating in ORIS’ New American Sustainable Agriculture Program. The New American Farmers Cooperative’s plots are located in Dunbarton, NH
UMOJA Farmers
Umoja Farmers organized themselves cooperatively in 2017. Umoja signifies togetherness or unity in Swahili. Umoja Farmers represent the Congolese, Burundi, and Rwandan communities. Their plots are located in Concord, NH.

Allen Brothers Farms
Westminster, VT
In 1956, following their dream to produce the finest apple crop in all of New England, four Allen brothers purchased an orchard on a southern Vermont hillside in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley. Over 50 years later, Allen Brothers has continued to follow that tradition by growing their own produce.

Atlas Farm

Atlas Farm is a 120-acre certified organic, diversified family farm with its roots in the fertile soil of the Connecticut River Valley. Atlas harvests from their fields and greenhouses year-round and pack storage crops for sale throughout the winter months. Basin Farm began as a small community in neighboring Westminster Station in 1984. Today, there are about 40 people, farming about 120 acres. Atlas is growing and milling spelt (an ancient grain), vegetables (of all sorts), and some herbs. (Organically Certified)

Brookford Farm

Brookford Farm is a 600-acre diversified farm with 35+ acres in certified organic vegetable production. The farm is also home to cattle, hogs, lambs and chickens, all rotated on pasture as the seasons allow. All cows and lamb are 100% grass fed and pigs and chickens are supplemented with non - GMO grain.
