Greetings from Fresh Start Farms!

It’s week 2 of the Spring FarmShare! We hope that you enjoyed your first box and made some delicious local meals!

On the Dunbarton farm, Sylvain made his first harvest of mustard greens!  He’s so excited to share the first spring harvest of greens with you. The arugula is also taking off and will be ready to eat soon.  Don’t miss his updates on Facebook and Instagram to follow along!

This week we have a special treat – a limited supply of organic hot house cucumbers!  It’s no easy feat to grow a cucumber in March in the North East! We’re thankful to Deep Root Organics for taking on the task to bring us these early spring treats. Deep Roots Organic is a co-op of 24 family farms in northern VT and Quebec. Another treat is the first of the spring scallions from Dog Rose Farm in Lee, NH. There is a very limited supply, but don’t worry there will be more to come!

Another exciting product this week is peeled and cubed organic sweet potatoes, ready for you to cook! We’re making dinner easier this week by helping with the prep.

Producer Spotlight: Queen's Greens

Queen’s Greens, located in Amherst MA, harvests soil-grown greens all winter long in high tunnels heated only by sunlight. Their greens are certified naturally grown, meaning they are GMO-free and without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. The high tunnels only use sunshine for heat which keeps their carbon footprint small and they practice regenerative techniques to ensure they keep the soil healthy!

Enjoy arugula, Winter Gem Salad mix, and spinach this week thanks to Queen’s Greens!

For some, this is your first week. Welcome!
