Greetings from Fresh Start Farms!

It’s week 6 and the spring FarmShare is over halfway through! Have you signed up for the Summer FarmShare, yet? The growing season is just getting started and there is so much to look forward to.  The summer share will include a wide variety of veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, peppers and so much more. You don’t want to miss fresh picked local strawberries in June! Sign up today.

Concord Fresh Start farmers are working on moving to a new farm site this summer with improved infrastructure. The new site will have electricity and a walk-in cooler for farmers to use when harvesting.  Dunbarton Farmer, Asli, harvested her first round of scallions! Plus Sylvain harvested arugula and more mustard greens — these plants have been so happy and just keep producing! Sylvain says the best way to eat mustard greens is with white fish. Try out his favorite recipe included in a newsletter from the fall.

We have more tomatoes this week from Deep Roots Organic inQuebec! Don’t forget the Maplebrook Mozzarella and Balsamic Vinegar to enjoy with them.

Exciting new products like Raspberry Lime KombuchaFalafel Fritters, Farmstead Chive Cheddar Cheese! Restocks on Fresh Mozzarella, Blue Ledge Farm Chevre, and Neopolitan Pizza Dough!

Protein Items

Falafel Fritters new from VT Bean Crafters!

Each pack includes 12 fritters that are made out of simple organic ingredients: garbanzo beans, white beans, kale, olive oil, parsley, apple cider vinegar, salt, coriander, cumin, chili flakes, paprika, and baking soda. Garbanzos are 50% of Falafel by weight, but they don’t grow well in our region. These beans are purchased from Ramona’s American Indian Foods, a native American (Akimel O’Odham) business in Arizona.

Whole Chickens from Robie Farm

Try out this juicy, grilled Whole Chicken, Mediterranean Style this week with Robie Farm’s all-natural, 100% pasture free-ranging, growth hormone/antibiotic-free local chicken.

Robie Farm is a small family farm owned and operated on the banks of the Connecticut River in Piermont, NH. All of their chickens are humanely raised right on their farm in movable pens on pastures (as opposed to indoor confinement).
