Greetings from Fresh Start Farms!
It’s the final week of the spring FarmShare! Thank you so much for your support of Fresh Start Farms this spring. We hope you’re planning to join us for the summer so we can share the bounty of summer veggies with you! If you’re already signed up for the Summer FarmShare, don’t forget that there are no share deliveries the week of Memorial Day. The Summer FarmShare Share starts June 6th.
We’re through the leaner months of New England local food and the Fresh Start Farms are producing! In Dunbarton, Asli is making her first harvest of cilantro, arugula, scallions, spring mix, and bok choy this week. Hajiya has mint and kale-a-bration baby kale mix, Isho has arugula and leeks, and Fadumo has scallions and mint.
Lots of new products this week! Fiddlehead IPA Bratwurst from VT Salumi, Ginger Devotion Katalyst Kombucha Cans, Organic Lebanese Cucumbers from Deep Root Organics, Smith’s Country Farmstead Aged Gouda, Terra Cotta Pasta Butternut Alfredo Sauce, Pinto and Jacob’s Cattle Beans from VT Bean Crafters. Plus a big restock on Ramen Noodles!
More Organic Red Hot House Tomatoes from Deep Roots Organic, Asparagus from Peachblow farm, and Fiddleheads from Dunk’s Mushrooms!
Reminder: It’s getting warmer, don’t forget to leave your cooler out for home delivery!

Pinto and Jacob’s Cattle Beans, VT Bean Crafters
Pinto Beans are classic bean for refried beans, the beautiful darker brown speckles on these oblong beans fade when cooked and become a creamy filling dream bean that takes on flavor extremely well.
Jacob’s Cattle Beans are one of the traditional baking beans of New England. It is a plump, white and red speckled, kidney-shaped bean with vivid maroon splashes. It is full-flavored, holds its shape under long cooking, and stands up well to plenty of seasoning.
Butternut Alfredo Sauce, Terra Cotta Pasta Co.
The origin of this sauce comes from one our most popular soups that we sell in our retail stores, Butternut Squash Bisque. Customers would comment that they pair this soup with our ravioli and fresh pastas. We decided to give it a try and married the butternut bisque with our roasted garlic Alfredo sauce. Turns out they were right! We here at TCPC especially enjoy it with our chicken or turkey meatballs and fresh pasta. Also great with grilled chicken breast or pork chops.

At Smith’s, old-fashioned family traditions and hard work are combined to produce their Farmstead Cheeses. All of their cheeses are made fresh on the farm with rich milk directly from their 200 dairy cows.
