We hope that you enjoyed the long Labor Day weekend, and we thank you again for your patience with us as we navigated the challenging week.

Some good news on the fall-fruit-front: Sunnycrest Farm in Londonderry, NH has some early apples! As you know it was an incredibly challenging season for fruit farmers throughout New England and along the east coast. Luckily, Sunnycrest fared the cold-snap and flooding rather well, and they have Cortland, Ginger Gold, and Honeycrisp apples available! We are so lucky to still have access to local apples, considering the extreme weather events of this year.

In Dunbarton, the Fresh Start Farmers are really starting to bring in the bounty! Many are starting to harvest winter squashes like butternut, delicata, and acorn; there are plenty of lunchbox peppers and some sweet colored peppers now; and still plenty of tomatoes! This is truly the best time of year for local produce. Thank you Fresh Start Farmers!

Applewood Smoked Bacon, North Country Smokehouse

North Country Smokhouse is located in Claremont, NH, and is one of the country’s few remaining family-owned smokehouses! They source all natural, Certified Humane ® and Organic pork from duBreton, a Canadian based producer leading both North America and Canada in the supply of humanely raised, sustainable meat. The pork bellies are first marinated in dark maple syrup brine and double smoked to create hearty, thick-cut bacon that’s more boldly flavorful than  expected. It is then smoked lazily, at low temperatures resulting in a tender, flavorful finish!
