Rolling right along...

It’s week three of the summer FarmShare and things are off to a great start!  We thank you again for your understanding with the holiday last week, and are excited to be receiving some great feedback from our *new* pick-up sites at the Merrimack Public Library and Southern NH Health. We are so grateful for all of the organizations that partner with us to offer pick-ups.

Fresh Start Farms team members Savitri and April are operating our Mobile Market this summer and are finding their groove and doing a great job! They will be present at a number of local events this summer, including the Neighbor Fest Block Party on Saturday, June 3rd, hosted by NH NeighborWorks! We wish them well at the event and hope that it is a great time. Check out the Mobile Market page on our website for an updated schedule and other information.

of the Week

Sauteed Rainbow Chard with Parmesan

Make chard taste incredible with this sauteed rainbow chard recipe! Amp the flavors in this easy side dish by adding pine nuts and parmesan.

Rhubarb Crisp

Looking to bake with that rhubarb in your FarmShare this week? Look no further! Chef Mark Bittman writes of his recipe,

When you think of rhubarb you probably think of strawberry-rhubarb pie, a quintessential spring dessert, especially if it’s made by someone who makes good pies. I usually manage around one pie crust annually, so I need alternatives. Thus, when the spring’s first rhubarb shows up, I adjust the execution and produce a crisp…it is nearly effortless and as good or better than a pie.”

Dairy Items

Gouda from Smith Country Cheese

Read what Smith’s Country has to say about their farmstead cheese:

“Our Gouda rivals any made in the Netherlands: It has the same mild taste, creamy texture and small, bubbly eyes. An excellent appetizer or dessert cheese, it is also great for cooking and melts beautifully.

The raw milk used at Smith’s Country Cheese comes directly from our own dairy herd of 200 Holsteins. It takes 100lbs of milk to make 10lbs of gouda! The milk is pumped into the cheese vat just minutes after the last cow in the dairy herd is milked, and the result is true farmstead cheese!”

Protein Items

Heiwa Organic Tofu

Looking for plant-based protein? We’ve got you covered! Heiwa tofu is a small family business in Rockport, Maine that produces high quality organic soy tofu. Great for stir-fries, curries, veggies soups,  even vegetarian/vegan tacos!
