Reflections & Exciting Events

Greetings from Fresh Start Farms! The October foliage gets brighter and brighter every day, and the palette of fall seems to be setting in. The Concord farm may look a little less green these days, but as you can see there is still plenty of color. Farmer Josephin shared some thoughts about her experience this summer season, explaining that the long cold of winter delayed their planting, so their crops peaked somewhat late.  This made it challenging to bring in profit at their markets. However, she was proud of the quality of the veggies and is hoping that the upcoming winter won’t be quite as long. Thanks for all of your hard work, Josephin, and all of our NASAP farmers!

We are looking forward to the upcoming long-weekend, and we thank you for your patience next week with the schedule changes (see info below). Did you know that we live on territory of the Pennacook Abenaki? Let’s honor this land on Monday and take a moment to learn more about Indigenous communities in our country. Native Land, a Canadian non-profit, strives to map Indigenous territories, lands, and languages–check out their website here.

UPCOMING EVENT: Climate Smart Farming Tour and Discussion--October 20th, 10am-2pm

Please join us on October 20th from 10 am – 2 pm at our new farm site in Concord for a Climate-Smart

who are implementing soil health practices, cover crops, water catchment and
conservation systems, weed management and more.  Attendees will receive a tour of the
farm, meet with farmers, learn about conservation practices, share a meal, and engage
in discussion about the opportunities and benefits of climate-smart agriculture to a

Smith’s Country Cheese Sticks

Need a grab-n-go snack? Smith’s Country Cheese makes individual cheese sticks that come in four flavors: plain, chive, chili, and smoked.

Here’s what the producers have to say about their product:

Our farmstead cheese sticks are packed with fun, flavor, and nutrition for the whole family!  We made these cheese sticks because we were sick of buying our kids the fake, less nutritious sticks at the grocery store. Our sticks are made with our farm’s raw milk because we believe in its amazing health benefits. We send EVERY batch of cheese to a food safety lab to test for pathogens before selling it so you can rest assured that your family is eating safe, delicious cheese.
