The daylight hours are getting shorter, the nights are getting colder, and the season has ended for our Fresh Start Farmers. We are very grateful for all of their hard work this summer–and recognize the many challenges that arise–in producing fresh, local food for the FarmShares! In the meantime, you will still receive wonderful produce from other farms in the area! Your continued support helps us to focus on our goals as a food hub in improving the accessibility of healthy, sustainably grown food in the community.

Look out for these fresh produce items this week: Broccoli crowns from Plainville Farm in Hadley, MA; Sunflower Greens from Grateful Greens in Brattleboro, VT; Brussels Sprouts from Czajkowski Farm in Hadley, MA; Spinach from Queen’s Green’s in Amherst, MA! We are thankful for all of our partner farms in helping us to make fresh food available all year round.

Solar Panel Update!

Solar panels are being installed at the Dunbarton Farm. The crew from ReVision Energy reports great progress so far: the ground site was successfully cleared and prepped, the electrical work has been given the go-ahead, and construction is underway. They predict a project duration of 2-2.5 weeks (weather permitting!). We are glad to hop on the solar wave!

Recipes

of the Week

Here’s what Food & Wine has to say about their recipe:

“There’s nothing better than coming home to a simmering pot of this hearty stew on a cool fall or winter day. Hearty chunks of beef turn tender after a low and slow trip in your favorite Dutch oven; potatoes join the party during the tail end of cooking so they don’t dissolve into the stew. Cut potatoes into similar-size pieces to guarantee they cook evenly.”

Add Robie Farm’s Stew Meat to your next FarmShare order and you’ll be ready to go! Get the recipe here.
