Greetings from Fresh Start Farms!
The middle of July means a number of new crops are starting to come into season! Zucchini and basil are in full swing and you may see the first couple of pounds of green peppers, carrots, and fennel this week, surely with more to come next week. Soon we’ll start seeing tomatoes, eggplants, and green beans!
This week we’ve brought in some exciting mushroom products from Dunk’s Mushrooms. Made right in Brentwood, with all local ingredients, Dunk’s Gourmet Mushroom Pot Pies, Vegan Mushroom Pulled “Pork”, and Vegan Mushroom Patties make for a delicious and easy meal!
Dunbarton farmer, Sylvain, just purchased a dehydrator this week in preparation to dry some of his incredible oregano, sage, dill, parsley, and basil crops. Keep your eye out for his dried herbs and spice blends later this season!
Many thanks to the Littleton Food Coop whose donation will help build a walk-in cooler on the farm. Refrigeration right on the farm will allow farmers to harvest more regularly and keep the food quality high!
It’s already week 7 of the 12-week Summer FarmShare! Have you signed up for the Fall Share yet? We have limited availability for the 12-week fall share starting August 22nd, so be sure to sign up early and don’t miss all of the summer veggies!
The Fall share starts at the peak of the harvest season, so you’ll get to select from a large variety of veggies including greens, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, carrots, herbs, summer squash, corn and much more. Towards the end of the share, you’ll get the first tastes of winter squash, beets, sweet potatoes, and other roasting veggies. Don’t forget the local eggs, meat, milk, bread, fruit, and pantry items!
The Concord Farmers Market season is off to a great start. Josephin, Alice & her children, and Harimaya were there this weekend selling all of the beautiful greens and herbs that early July has to offer. Thank you to all of the wonderful customers who stopped by!

Low Share Value Alert
When you customize your share, make sure to look out for a box value alert in your cart. If the total value of the products in your cart is less than the value of your share ($28 or $40), you will see an alert indicating that you may add products without incurring an additional charge. Unused value does not roll over into extras or future weeks, so we want to make sure you get your full value each box!
Please return boxes & insulated liners!
We are starting to use insulated liners to keep your food cool in your shares to make sure your veggies are at the highest quality when you receive them. We want to make sure to limit any waste and packaging (and each of these liners costs $3) so please make sure to leave the silver insulated liner at your pick-up site or return it to your site/delivery driver. Please return any boxes as well. Thank you!
