Happy December! We hope you and your families had a wonderful Thanksgiving! And while it is great to have a holiday geared towards gratitude, let’s remember that we can practice gratitude everyday, especially as we head into the holiday season. We certainly are grateful for all of the hard work from our New American farmers this season!
We are looking forward to some exciting things, like Holiday Gift Boxes (read below!) and special bread orders from the Crust and Crumb! Mark your calendars: there will be special bread loaves from the Crust and Crumb available to order in your FarmShares the weeks of December 12th & 19th, and again the weeks of February 6th & 13th!

- Melon Head Hot Sauce from Thirty Acre Farm– This hot sauce includes sweet cantaloupe to complement the habanero heat! A savory tang and crisp taste—that’s just the start of what you’ll enjoy in the foods that the farmers from Thirty Acre Farm in Maine farm and ferment. Their active cultures kick-in an added bonus: a healthy dose of probiotic power. This sweet and spicy hot sauce is sure to spice up your life!
- Sea Salt Pretzels from One Mighty Mill- One Mighty Mill in Lynn, MA, is here to make this stale snack fresher (literally). Every day they fresh-mill organic whole grains on their stone mills. You’ll notice that you can taste their pretzels, not just the salt. It’s a premium flavor and thanks to fresh-milling, your body, taste buds, and the planet can feel good about this Mighty new take on your old fave! Plus, they are certified organic and their products contain no industrial flour, no preservatives, no high-fructose corn syrup, no chemical pesticides or herbicides, and no GMOs.
Have You Tried…
- Brewer’s Pita Chips– Did you know that Brewer’s Cracker Company uses Up-Cycled grains in their products to reduce food waste? Brewing beer is a huge source of grain waste and it turns out that those “spent” grains aren’t so “spent” after all! They still hold lots of flavor and nutrients, which you will quickly learn once you try these delicious pita chips. Enjoy both the Rosemary and Sea Salt flavors!
- Spicy Cheddar Rye Crackers from Seven Stars Bakery– These crispy and cheesy crackers with a hint of cayenne are handmade with the finest ingredients, including our house-milled flour featuring Maine Grains. Delicious, small-batch Seven Stars Crackers make a great addition to your cheeseboard, pair beautifully with your favorite wine or beer and create the perfect stand-alone snack. Cheers!

Garlic Peppercorn Cheddar Cheese from Plymouth Artisan Cheese
Here’s what the producers have to say about their delicious cheese:
“Garlic Peppercorn is inspired by the flair and finesse of the French kitchen, with its proud and vivacious character and the savory elements of onion, garlic, red peppers—and of course, green peppercorns. The poir vert tradition holds strong in France, where chefs bow to this verdant variety of the peppercorn, which shows up in sauces as well as in cheese. This raw cheddar is marbled, which makes it (much like the French) as pretty as it is complex. It is aged for sixty days, yielding an upbeat and creamy granular curd cheese that tastes like a whole dinner in just one bite.”
Mmmmmm, c’est délicieux!
