Enjoy the Solstice and Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays from Fresh Start Farms! This upcoming week is the last week of deliveries prior to a two-week break in the FarmShare! There will be no FarmShare deliveries the weeks of December 26th and January 2nd. The share will resume the week of January 9th.

Another reason this week is special is because of the solstice on Wednesday! That’s right: December 21st, the shortest day of the year! On this day, we have the opportunity to embrace the darkness; to appreciate all of the lights in our lives; and to hope for the increasing (day)light that is to come. We are appreciative of all of your support, which has helped Fresh Start Farms get to where it is today! And we are looking forward to new projects and ideas in 2023.

From all of us here at Fresh Start Farms and the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success, we wish you a great holiday season and a very happy New Year!

Another week of special bread from the Crust and Crumb!

We are getting another order of bread from the Crust and Crumb this week, including more of the Cardamom Pulla Braided loaf, butter rolls, honey oat bread, and CINNAMON BUNS! Yep, you read that right: delicious cinnamon buns, perfect for those special holiday breakfasts. These items freeze very well, so all you’ll have to do is pop them in the oven to warm them up and then enjoy!

Last chance for gift boxes!

Give the gift of local food for the holidays! We have eight different gift boxes to choose from this year, all with unique themes and varying prices. You can read the full descriptions and purchase them starting this week when you go to customize your Share in Harvie: look for the Gift Box products and select the one(s) that you’d like! Holiday Cheese Board Favorites

Tres Bonne Gouda, Boston Post Creamery -Tres Bonne is a goat milk Gouda aged 2-5 months. It’s a smooth cheese and has a fresh mild and nutty flavor. It pairs well with Sparkling Cider Wines and Pale Ales.

Rupert Alpine Style – Made from a Jersey cow’s raw milk, this Alpine-style cheese is inspired by Gruyère and Comté. It ages a minimum of eight months, revealing a golden paste which offers a rich complexity of flavor with toasty and buttery notes and a hint of sharpness.

Grafton Village Smoke Chili Cheddar and Maple Smoked Cheddar – Grafton’s Smoked Chili Cheddar is infused with habañero, jalapeño and pasilla peppers for the right balance of chili flavor and spice.  The Maple Smoked Cheddar is a New England classic and has a mild, buttery body with heady aromas of campfire and smoked ham. A sweet finish recalls memories of toasted marshmallows.
